The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply (MoITS) is the government institution responsible for developing Jordan’s industrial and commercial sectors, strengthening domestic and international trade, ensuring the availability of essential commodities, and promoting a competitive business environment. Established in 1956, the Ministry formulates and implements national policies that support industrial growth, private sector development, investment, consumer protection, and economic competitiveness. Headquartered in Amman, with directorates and service offices across the Kingdom, the Ministry works closely with businesses, manufacturers, traders, investors, chambers of industry and commerce, international organizations, and government institutions to drive sustainable economic development and improve Jordan’s business climate.
The Ministry oversees a broad range of responsibilities, including industrial development, commercial regulation, business registration, consumer protection, competition policy, internal and external trade, strategic commodity management, price monitoring, food supply security, intellectual property coordination, trade agreements, export promotion, and market regulation. It also supervises several key institutions, including the Companies Control Department (CCD), while working closely with the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO), the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), chambers of commerce and industry, and investment authorities to strengthen Jordan’s industrial and commercial ecosystem. The Ministry plays a leading role in negotiating and implementing free trade agreements and facilitating Jordan’s integration into regional and global markets.
As part of Jordan’s digital transformation strategy, the Ministry has introduced a wide range of electronic services, including online company registration, commercial name reservation, licensing applications, business information services, consumer complaint platforms, import and export licensing, supply management services, and digital business portals. These initiatives have improved service efficiency, enhanced transparency, simplified regulatory procedures, and strengthened Jordan’s ease of doing business.
The Ministry is headed by H.E. Yarub Suleiman Qudah, who serves as the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply. An experienced leader in economic development and public administration, Minister Qudah oversees the Ministry’s policies and initiatives aimed at supporting industrial modernization, enhancing trade competitiveness, ensuring the stability of local markets, strengthening food supply chains, encouraging investment, and expanding Jordan’s export opportunities. Under his leadership, the Ministry continues to implement reforms aligned with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision, promoting innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable private sector growth.
