The Companies Control Department (CCD) is a government institution operating under the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply. It is responsible for regulating, registering, supervising, and monitoring companies operating in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in accordance with the Companies Law No. (22) of 1997 and its subsequent amendments. The Department plays a central role in creating a transparent, secure, and investor-friendly business environment by ensuring that companies comply with Jordanian corporate laws, governance standards, and financial regulations. It serves entrepreneurs, investors, legal professionals, accountants, and companies throughout every stage of their business lifecycle.
Originally established as a directorate within the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Companies Control Department became an independent department in 2003 following the issuance of its Administrative Organization Bylaw. Since then, it has modernized its operations by introducing electronic registration services, digital company records, online inquiries, and integrated e-government services to simplify procedures and improve the efficiency of doing business in Jordan.
The Department provides a comprehensive range of services, including:
- Registration of all company types, including limited liability companies, public and private shareholding companies, partnerships, non-profit companies, foreign companies, and branch offices.
- Amendment of company records, articles of association, capital increases or reductions, mergers, acquisitions, liquidation procedures, and ownership transfers.
- Issuing official certificates, authenticated documents, and company information.
- Supervising companies’ compliance with legal, financial, and governance requirements.
- Monitoring public shareholding companies, reviewing financial statements, overseeing general assembly meetings, and conducting inspections and investigations when required.
- Providing statistical information and corporate data to government authorities, investors, and the public where permitted by law.
The Companies Control Department is committed to strengthening corporate governance, protecting shareholders’ rights, promoting transparency and accountability, and supporting a competitive investment climate. By streamlining company registration and enforcing compliance with Jordanian legislation, the Department contributes significantly to economic development, investment attraction, and private sector growth. It continues to expand its electronic services to make company formation and regulatory compliance faster, more efficient, and more accessible for businesses across the Kingdom.
