الوصف:

Maqam Abdullah ibn Rawahah is an important Islamic religious and historical site in Al-Mazar Al-Janubi, Karak Governorate. It commemorates Abdullah ibn Rawahah, a prominent companion of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and one of the three commanders of the Muslim army during the Battle of Mu’tah in 629 AD (8 AH).

According to the account of the battle, command was assigned successively to Zayd ibn Harithah, Ja’far ibn Abi Talib and Abdullah ibn Rawahah. All three were martyred during the battle, making the Mu’tah and Al-Mazar Al-Janubi area one of Jordan’s most significant destinations associated with early Islamic history.

The maqam forms part of a wider religious heritage landscape in southern Jordan that includes shrines associated with the martyrs of the Battle of Mu’tah. Today, the site attracts visitors and pilgrims interested in the lives of the Prophet’s companions and the early history of Islam.
